Swimming and Diving completes day one at ECAC Open Championships
Meet Results
PITTSBURGH, Pa. -- The Binghamton swimming and diving teams completed
the first day of competition at the 2008 ECAC Open Championships
Friday at the University of Pittsburgh's Trees Pool. The men
are currently in ninth place with 51 points, while the women
are in 15th with 33 points.
Sophomore Philip Dzieniszewski
(Bayside, N.Y.) was the men's top individual swimmer, tying for
ninth place in the 50-free in 21.12
Senior Matt Russo (Manhattan, N.Y.)
led the Bearcat diving efforts, claiming eighth place in the
1-meter event with 217.30 points.
The men's 200-free relay team won the consolation final and took
ninth place overall. The Bearcat quartet of Dzieniszewski, juniors
Andrew Palumbo (Yorktown Heights,
N.Y.), Joe Rogan (Ithaca, N.Y.), and
Brian Koralewski (Floral Park,
N.Y.) clocked in with a time of 1:25.25.
Palumbo, Rogan, and Koralewski teamed up with senior Michael
Britvan (Pleasantville, N.Y.) to take home 10th place honors
in the 400-medley relay in 3:30.47
On
the women's side, junior divers Kristin
Maney (New Paltz, N.Y.) and Kate
Hassfurter (Horseheads, N.Y.) paced the Bearcat women. In
the three-meter dive, Maney finished in seventh place with 214.50
points, while Hassfurter placed eighth with 198.35 points.
The 200-free relay team of sophomores Allyce
Brand (Highland Park, Ill.) and Taryn
Ferrara (Morristown, N.J.) and freshmen Brittany
Detlef (Rochester, N.Y.) and Lyndsi
Worthington (Leawood, Kan.) claimed 12th place in a time
of 1:41.62.
A full day of competition is on the slate for Saturday beginning
at 10 a.m. |
