Swimming and Diving completes second day at ECAC Open Championships
Meet Results
PITTSBURGH, Pa. -- The Binghamton swimming and diving teams completed
the second of competition at the 2008 ECAC Open Championships
Saturday at the University of Pittsburgh's Trees Pool.
After two days of competition, the men are currently in ninth
place out of 25 teams with 98 points, while the women are in
15th in the 25-team field with 64 points.
In his final collegiate competition, senior Matt
Russo (Manhattan, N.Y.) claiming third place in the 3-meter
dive with 250.25 points.
Junior Andrew Palumbo (Yorktown Heights,
N.Y.) and sophomore Philip Dzieniszewski
(Bayside, N.Y.) highlighted the Bearcat swimming efforts. Palumbo
was a finalist in seventh in the 100-breast in 58.08. Dzieniszewski
took 10th in the 100-fly in 51.57.
The
200-medley relay team paced the Bearcat women's efforts on Saturday.
The BU quartet of sophomores Allyce
Brand (Highland Park, Ill.) and Taryn
Ferrara (Morristown, N.J.) and freshmen Brittany
Detlef (Rochester, N.Y.) and Lyndsi
Worthington (Leawood, Kan.) won the consolation final and
took ninth place overall in a time of 1:52.77.
Brand and Worthington were both consolation finalists in their
individual events as well. Brand finished 14th in the 100-breast
in 1:09.43, while Worthington was 15th in the 100-back in 1:01.48.
A full day of competition is on the slate for Sunday beginning
at 10 a.m. |
