Swimming and Diving wraps up competition at ECAC Championship

PITTSBURGH, Pa. -- The Binghamton swimming and diving teams concluded the third and final of competition at the 2008 ECAC Open Championships Saturday at the University of Pittsburgh's Trees Pool.

The Bearcat men finshed in 10th place out of 26 scoring teams with 134 points, while the women took 15th of 28 with 95 points.

Junior Brian Koralewski (Floral Park, N.Y.) was the Bearcats' top finisher on Sunday. Koralewski was a finalist in the 100-free, finishing in eighth in 47.31. Sophomore Philip Dzieniszewski (Bayside, N.Y.)added a 15th-place effort in the event in 48.15

In the 200-breast, junior Andrew Palumbo (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) finished in 10th in 2:07.54. Sophomore Ziyad Rouhana (Vestal, N.Y.) added a 15th place finish in the 200-fly in 1:58.20.

Junior divers Kristin Maney (New Paltz, N.Y.) and Kate Hassfurter (Horseheads, N.Y.) paced the Bearcat women's efforts. Maney earned third-place honors in the 1-meter dive with 209.55 points, while Hassfurter finished sixth with 199.40.

Freshman Lyndsi Worthington (Leawood, Kan.) was a consolation finalist in the 200-back claiming 14th in 2:10.47.

A full day of competition is on the slate for Sunday beginning at 10 a.m.
