Holmes earns America East Performer of the Week honors for second time this season

VESTAL, N.Y.--Binghamton University senior David Holmes (Doncaster, England) has been named the America East Men's Swimming Performer of the Week for the week of November 13-20. This marks the tenth career time he has received the
conference's top weekly accolade.

Holmes helped the Bearcat men capture the Bucknell Trial/Finals Invitational this past weekend, winning three individual events and achieving two NCAA 'B' cut qualifying times.

"David's versatility is astounding," said head coach Sean Clark. "He has several top times in the Conference from the 50 free through the 400 IM, and will do anything we ask him to do. His tremendous work ethic is a boost for our program, and we're pleased to start to see some of the rewards."

On Saturday, he was victorious in both the 50-yard (20.55) and 200-yard (1:36.95) freestyle events. His time in the 200 met the NCAA 'B' cut time and set a new school and personal record.

Holmes' dominance continued on the final day of the meet, as he set a second school record in pacing BU's 1-2 finish in the 400-yard individual medley. He stopped the clock at 3:56.79, more than eight seconds ahead of his closest competitor.

Additionally, in the Bearcats' meet-clinching victory in the 400-yard freestyle relay, he met his second NCAA 'B' cut time of the weekend, clocking in with a time of 44.55 in BU's lead leg.

The Bearcats return to action on Saturday, December 2, when they host Cornell in a dual meet at the Patricia A. Saunders Aquatic Center.
