Senior Brian Koizim earns America East Swimmer of the Week honors
America East Release
VESTAL, N.Y.--Binghamton University senior Brian Koizim (White Plains, N.Y.) has been named the America East Men's Swimmer of the Week for January 22-29. This marks the first career time he has received the conference's top weekly accolade.
Koizim led the Bearcat men to a split against Atlantic-10 foes Massachusetts and Colgate this past weekend. In his last collegiate dual meet, Koizim was a triple-winner pacing the men's efforts with victories in the 100-back, 51.85, 100-free, 46.58, and 200-IM, 1:54.8.
His performance in the 200-IM was the second-fastest swim in that event in the America East all season. In both the 100-back and 100-free, his times were the league's third-fastest efforts. On the year, Koizim now has 14 individual wins on the season and has won at least two races in three consecutive meets.
"Brian really cranked out some tremendous swims," said head coach Sean Clark. "He came up huge for us against the likely A-10 Conference Champions."
The Bearcat men and women return to action Feb. 8-11, when they head to Boston University for the America East Conference Championships.
