Swimming and Diving swept in dual meet at UMBC
Graham and Turner go one and two on both boards

BALTIMORE, M.D. -- The Binghamton men's and women's swimming and diving teams tested themselves against the five-time reigning America East Swimming and Diving Champions on Saturday afternoon. The men fell to UMBC 125-170, while the women were defeated by 113-177.

Highlighting the men was senior Ryan Graham, who took top honors on both the one-meter (260.48), and three-meter (292.80) boards. He was closely followed by freshman Nick Turner who placed second on both the one meter (248.25), and three meter boards (266.25).

In the pool the men's team starting strong with a big win in the 200 medley relay. In individual events, freshman Nolan Slesnick kept up his strong start to the season claiming second in the 1000 free (9:43.11), and in thee 500 free (4:45.65).

Other top finishers for the men included freshman Joe Perez-Rogers who won thet 100 back with a time of 53.49. Senior Brenno Varanda finished second in the 200 IM (1:58.30) and third in the 200 breast (2:12.43). Senior Andrew Palumbo came in second in the 100 breast (1:00.00), and fourth in the 200 breast (2:15.93)

The women were very strong on the boards as well, as sophomore Elizabeth Esposito finished first on the one-meter (190.13) and third on the three-meter (196.65). Also on the one-meter, freshman Morgan Neal claimed third (188.40). Senior Kate Hassfurter took over on the three meter board placing second with a score of 197.93.

Sophomore Amanda Ciccone churned out another impressive performance placing third in the 200 IM (2:15.81), second in the 50 free (25.60),and second in the 100 free (55.65).

Other top finishers for the women were sophomore Danielle Gallo, who finished second in the 200 breast (2:34.55), and third in the 100 breast (1:10.42). Sophomore Brittany Detlef who placed third in the 100 fly (1:02.34), and fourth 100 in the back (1:03.23). Junior Allyce Brand who touched third in the 50 free (25.67).

The Bearcat men and women host UMASS for their first home meet of the season on November 8th starting at 11 a.m.
