|Binghamton swimming & diving teams sweep Vermont|
On the women's side, junior Amy DeWitt (Mastic, N.Y./ William Floyd) was a triple winner, capturing the 100 back (1:02.80), 200 back (2:14.50) and 200 IM (2:19.57). Sophomore Huijue Cai (Shanghai, China/ Shanghai Institute of Sports) broke the school record in the 100 free with a time of 52.40. The old time of 53.67, was set by sophomore teammate Laura Linek (Canandaigua, N.Y.) last year. Cai went on to also win the 500 free (5:13.46). Linek, meanwhile won both the 50 (24.79) free and 200 free (1:57.93). Other double winners on the women's side were senior Mary Tennyson (Middletown, N.Y./ Pine Bush) won the 100 breaststroke and the 200 breaststroke, and junior Yun Qu (Hangzhou, China), who won the 100 fly (57.09) and the 200 fly (2:01.78).
On the men's side, freshman Wade Rimbach (Essex, England/ Brentwood) was a double-winner, capturing both the 100 back (57.61) and 200 back (2:03.39). Senior Aytac Gurbuz (Istanbul, Turkey/ Ayazaga Isik) won both the 100 free (50.78) and 100 breast (1:03.85).
Binghamton's next meet is on Saturday at home against Towson, starting at 1 p.m.
