BU men's tennis advances to America East final
Top-seeded
Bearcats bounce Boston 4-0 in semis
NEW
HAVEN, Conn. -- Binghamton University men's tennis (12-10) advanced
to the America East Championship for the fifth time in the last
six years with a 4-0 win over No. 4 Boston University Saturday
from the Yale Tennis Center. The top-seeded Bearcats will face
second-seeded and defending champion UMBC in Sunday's title match,
with an NCAA tournament berth at stake.
Binghamton
won all three doubles matches to capture that point, and then
took the first three singles matches to clinch the win.
Seniors
Faisal Mohamed (Lynbrook, N.Y.) and
Gregoire Berner (Troinex, Switzerland)
teamed for a win at first doubles and then each won his singles
match to help clinch the win. Mohamed rolled to a 6-2, 6-0 win
at No. 1, and Berner recorded a 6-1, 6-2 victory at No. 4. Senior
Alex Dobrin (Flushing, N.Y.) recorded
the other win - 6-3, 6-1 at No. 5.
