men's tennis edges Yale in ECAC quarterfinals 4-3
BOSTON -- The third-seeded Binghamton men's tennis team won four of the six singles matches to rally past sixth-seeded Yale 4-3 in a quarterfinal match at the ECAC Indoor Championship, hosted by Harvard Saturday at the Murr Tennis Center.
The win, No. 59 BU's first of the semester, sends the Bearcats into a Sunday semifinal matchup against second-seeded Princeton, who beat No. 10 St. John's 6-1. The match against the 74th-ranked Tigers is slated for 11:30 a.m.
The ECAC event features the top 10 teams in the Northeast competing in a team dual format. Cornell is the top seeded team.
After losing all three doubles matches and trailing 1-0, BU took over the match in singles. The Bearcats won at the top and bottom of the lineup, with seniors Sven Vloedgraven and Arnav Jain leading the way with straight set wins at Nos. 1 and 2 respectively. Jain improved to 4-1 in duals this semester.
Inserted into the starting lineup, junior reserve Rafael Rodrigues came through with a key three-set win at sixth singles.
