BU men's tennis opens fall season at non-scoring Navy Blue Invitational
Bearcats handle Temple, host Navy in flighted singles and doubles format

ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- Binghamton men's tennis opened a new era with the same results, dominating play at the four-team Navy Blue Invitational Friday and Saturday.

The Bearcats went a combined 22-2 in singles and doubles against Temple and Navy. Binghamton won all nine matches Friday against Temple and then went 11-2 against Navy.

"Binghamton is a very talented team," said Navy head coach John Officer. "They showed today why they have been so highly regarded and nationally ranked over the last few years."

The tournament concludes Sunday with BU facing St. Bonaventure in singles and doubles. The tournament was the first for a BU team that graduated its top three players, including the most accomplished player in program history, Sven Vloedgraven.

Senior No. 1 Alexandre Haggai looked strong in winning his two singles matches against Temple and Navy. Haggai posted a 7-5, 6-0 win against Temple's top man Friday and then rolled to a 6-2, 6-2 win over Navy's No. 1.
