VESTAL, N.Y. -- Binghamton men's tennis senior Faisal Mohamed (Lynbrook, N.Y.) and junior Sebastian Dietz (Leun, Germany) won two matches to reach the semifinals in the "A" doubles draw at the Princeton Invitational this past weekend.
The pair opened play with an 8-2 win over Bennett/Green from Yale and then earned an 8-6 victory over Doppelt/Nichols from Cornell in the quarterfinals. The Cornell duo had upset the No. 3 seeds from Maryland. Mohamed and Dietz then dropped an 8-5 match to Drucker/Mihdawy from Columbia in the semifinals.
In singles play, Mohamed defeated Ryan Kim (Princeton) 7-6, 6-2 in the first round of the "A" flight before losing 6-4, 6-3 to Justin Fox from Penn.
The Bearcats next compete in the Virginia State Open, hosted by University of Virginia on September 28-30.
