Binghamton men's tennis topples Quinnipiac 6-1 for fourth straight win

VESTAL, N.Y. - Binghamton men's tennis (11-5) stretched its win streak to four with a 6-1 victory over visiting Quinnipiac in the first home outdoor match of the spring Saturday afternoon from West Gym Courts. The Bearcats captured the doubles point before winning five of six singles contests.

Senior Richemn Mourad (Sao Paulo, Brazil) rolled to a 6-0, 6-0 victory at first singles. Classmate Brian O'Connor (Clifton Park, N.Y.) equaled that with a 6-0, 6-0 triumph at No. 3. O'Connor improved to 18-5 overall, 12-4 in duals.

Sophomore Mark Piro (Clifton Park, N.Y.) also looked strong with a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 6 singles. Piro raised his overall record to 15-4.

"Mark has continued to impress me," head coach Michael Starke said of Piro's performance. "He also played an outstanding match with Alex (Dobrin) at third doubles. I loved how they played."

Binghamton hosts Hartford Sunday beginning at 10 a.m.
