From the America East champion men's tennis team, senior Faisal Mohamed (Lynbrook, N.Y.) and sophomore Moshe Levy (Ra'ananna, Israel) received Spring Academic accolades. Mohammed was part of the top doubles team in the conference while Levy earned first-team all-conference honors at No. 3 doubles. The America East runner up in women's tennis is represented by sophomore Danyelle Shapiro (Boca Raton, Fla.). At the conclusion of the season, she earned second-team all-conference honors at No. 3 doubles. Junior sprinter Junior Obionwu (Chestnut Ridge, N.Y.) is the men's track & field selection. He was part of the 4x400 relay team that took top honors at the America East Outdoor Track & Field Championships last week. Senior Keisha Short (Yephank, N.Y.) and sophomore Kiki Gifft (Ithaca, N.Y.) were both named from the women's track & field program. Short placed third in the 400 and Gifft placed third in the pole vault at last week's America East Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Each All-Academic Team has been selected based on the student-athletes academic and athletic accomplishments. Academic achievement for consideration requires student-athletes to have a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.00 entering the season. Athletic accomplishment standards vary between team sports and individual sports. For track & field, student-athletes are required to be a top-three finisher at the conference championship meet. Team size for individual sports is determined by the number of all-conference honorees who possess the minimum academic requirement. Freshman are not eligible for the All-Academic Team. |
