BU men's tennis blanks St. Bonaventure 7-0

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. -- Binghamton University men's tennis (8-7) grabbed the doubles point with a narrow win at the top spot and then flexed its muscle with straight-set singles wins in a 7-0 romp over St. Bonaventure Sunday night at the Binghamton Tennis Center. It was the Bearcats' fifth win in their last six matches.

Senior Faisal Mohamed (Lynbrook, N.Y.) and junior Sebastian Dietz (Leun, Germany) broke their opponents at 8-7 to capture the No. 1 match and clinch the doubles point for the Bearcats. The pair improved to 7-2 in duals.

Mohamed then spearheaded BU's sweep of the singles matches with a 6-3, 6-4 victory at the top spot.

"It was a solid effort," head coach Adam Cohen said. "We played good all around to win six matches all in straight sets. That says we're playing pretty well."

Binghamton next faces Western Michigan and University of Buffalo on March 29 and 30 in Buffalo.
