Bearcats lose at Stetson 6-1

DELAND, Fla. - Binghamton ran up against a strong Stetson team and absorbed a 6-1 loss Tuesday afternoon. The Bearcats (8-8) were led by sophomore Akshay Rao (New Delhi, India), who posted a 6-3, 5-7, 10-7 win at first singles. Earlier, Rao paired with senior Brad Sherwood (Bronx, N.Y./Fordham Prep) for an 8-4 pro-set win at first doubles. Stetson, however, captured the doubles point with wins at the second and third spots, and then won five of the six singles contests.

"It was a very strong and talented Stetson team," head coach Michael Starke said. "We put up an impressive and spirited fight, though. I think the heart and fire is coming back to this team."
