BROOKLYN, N.Y. - St. John's captured the decisive doubles point and scored a 4-3 victory over visiting Binghamton (1-4) in a men's tennis match Saturday night from Bridgeview Racquet Club. The teams split the six singles matches with four contests extending to a final set.
Junior No. 1 Faisal Mohamed (Lynbrook, N.Y.) earned a 6-7, 7-6, 7-6 win to improve to 13-6 in 2006-07. Junior Mark Piro (Clifton Park, N.Y.) posted his first win in the lineup after returning from studying abroad in the fall semester. Piro scored a 6-4, 7-6 win at No. 6 singles. Junior Alex Dobrin (Flushing, N.Y.) picked up the team's other singles win. After dropping the first set, Dobrin stormed back to win 2-6, 6-3, 6-3.
Binghamton returns to New York City to face Concordia on February 9.
