Binghamton men's tennis upended by Stony Brook 5-2

VESTAL, N.Y. - Binghamton men's tennis (13-6) had its six-match win streak snapped by America East rival Stony Brook (9-6) Monday afternoon at the West Gym Courts. The Seawolves won all three doubles matches and captured four of the six singles contests to earn the 5-2 win. The win gained a measure of revenge for the Seawolves, who have been beaten by Binghamton in each of the last three conference championship matches.

Senior Richemn Mourad (Sao Paulo, Brazil) posted a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 1 singles and sophomore Faisal Mohamed (Lynbrook, N.Y.) scored a commanding 6-2, 6-2 win at fourth singles. With BU trailing 3-2, the two deciding singles matches each went to a third set, but Stony Brook won both for the final margin.

"Richemn played a great match," head coach Michael Starke said. "He could be the Player of the Year in the conference. But I was greatly disappointed in our lack of execution in doubles."

Binghamton next hosts Fairleigh Dickinson on April 18.
