"We were close," head coach Michael Starke said. "We can hold our heads high though. I was very proud of our performance ... we played like champions."
The Bearcats held three match points in the decisive No. 3 doubles match before the Seawolves tandem rallied for the 9-7 win.
The three singles wins were orchestrated by its three seniors - Richemn Mourad (Sao Paulo, Brazil) at No. 1, Brian O'Connor (New Rochelle, N.Y.) at No. 3 and Edwin Gerard (Bayside, N.Y.) at No. 5. Mourad, the conference Player of the Year, was especially strong in a 6-3, 7-5 win over Tal Meir. O'Connor dropped the first set in his match before storming back for a 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 win. He finished his stellar four-year career with a 86-34 record - the most wins in school history. Gerard won for the 50th time in his collegiate career.
