BU men's tennis standout Vloedgraven cracks national rankings
Two months after grabbing top spot in Northeast, junior is #117 in nation

ITA Singles Rankings

VESTAL, N.Y. -- Binghamton junior tennis standout Sven Vloedgraven has cracked the national singles rankings. Two months after grabbing the No. 1 position in the Northeast Region, Vloedgraven was placed among the national top 125, landing at No. 117 in the weekly poll released Tuesday afternoon. He is the first BU tennis player to earn a national spot since Dan Hanegby was No. 103 in spring 2005.

Vloedgraven capped a remarkable fall season by advancing to the ITA National Indoor Championship - the first Bearcat to accomplish the feat. He qualified by capturing the ITA Northeast Regional title and was among the nation's elite at the national event, hosted by Yale on November 5-8.

He is 19-6 overall for the Bearcats (6-1), who have beaten No. 69 Cornell (5-2) already this spring - and return to the courts this Saturday at Princeton. Vloedgraven is 6-1 in duals and also 14-5 with doubles partner Gilbert Wong.
