BU men's tennis opens spring with 6-1 win over Villanova

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. -- Binghamton men's tennis opened its spring season with a 6-1 victory over visiting Villanova (1-1) Saturday night at the Binghamton Tennis Center. After dropping the doubles point, the Bearcats (1-0) swept all six singles matches in straight sets.

Junior Moshe Levy posted a 7-6, 6-4 win at first singles, raising his record to 11-3 this year. Freshman Gilbert Wong rolled to a 6-0, 6-0 win at fourth singles, improving to 15-4 overall. Newcomer Alex Haggai also didn't drop a game en route to a 6-0, 6-0 triumph at fifth singles.

"We looked sluggish in doubles but really played well in singles," head coach Adam Cohen said.

Binghamton next competes at Dartmouth with UNC Greensboro on Feb. 7.
