Williams edges Bearcats 4-3

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - National Division III power Williams edged Binghamton (2-1) 4-3 in an indoor men's tennis match on Saturday. The Ephs captured the pivotal doubles point before the two teams split the six singles matches.

Freshman Dan Hanegby (Herzeliya, Israel) won both his matches, teaming with senior Steve Spencer (Plantation, Fla.) for an 8-6 victory at No. 1 doubles, and then earning a 6-3, 6-3 triumph at the top single spot. Hanegby is 8-1 in singles and 7-1 in doubles thus far this fall.

Junior Richemn Mourad (Sao Paulo, Brazil) won his match at second singles, 7-5, 7-6, and junior Juan Garcia (Lima, Peru) picked up BU's other win with a 7-6, 7-5 victory at sixth singles.

"It was a close and well-played match," head coach Michael Starke said.
