BOSTON--Sophomore Rory Quiller (West Point, N.Y.) was named the Men's Most Outstanding Field Athlete as the Binghamton track & field teams each placed fifth out of 10 teams at the America East Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships. The men's team, which had four individual winners, scored 93.5 points while the women's team, which had one individual champion, tallied 80.5 points. Northeastern swept both the men's and women's team titles.

The fifth-place performance by the men's team is its best showing in its four years at the America East Conference Indoor Meet. The Bearcats were sixth the previous two seasons and seventh in 2001.

As for the women's team, its fifth-place finish is second only to its third-place finish at the 2002 meet.

Quiller earned his award by virtue of his record-breaking win in the pole vault on Friday night. His winning height of 17-6 broke both the school and meet records (17-2 and 16-1 respectively). On Saturday, he placed sixth in both the 55 hurdles (7.75) and heptathlon (4,122 points).

Also victorious on the men's side were junior
Luke Shafer (Penfield, N.Y.) in the high jump (6-8), sophomore Kevin Hall (Glen Falls, N.Y.) in the shot put and Hasani Hampden (Freeport, N.Y.) in the pentathlon (4,770). Hampden was also fifth in the long jump (21-9.5).

The four individual champions is the most the men's team has ever had at an America East Conference Indoor or Outdoor Championship Meet. Last season, Binghamton had two individual winners (Quiller in the pole vault and Andrew Cloud in the weight throw), which up until this weekend represented the most conference champions in a meet.

On the women's side senior Lindsay Warren (Lansing, N.Y.) was the top performer for the Bearcats, capturing the high jump (5-6) and placing second in the pole vault (11-3.75). Binghamton's other runner-up performance was recorded by freshman Dayna Johnson (Brentwood, N.Y.) in the triple jump (38-9). She was also third in the 400 (1:15.90).
