Meet Website
Day One Recap

DURHAM, N.H.-- Junior Cazal Arnett was named the Men's Most Outstanding Performer and freshman Jeff Martinez was named the Men's Rookie of the Meet highlighting the Binghamton track & field team's performance at the final day of the America East Outdoor Track & Field Championships, which were held at the University of New Hampshire. The men finished a program-best second out of nine teams while the women placed seventh.

Arnett, who has now won a program-best nine individual America East titles, swept the 200 and 400 individual titles with times of 21.41 in the 200 and 46.62 in the 400. In the 4x400 relay he anchored the team which included freshmen Casey Gilbert and Zach Keefer as well as junior Christian Smith to a conference-record time of 3:10.75. The old mark of 3:10.85 was set by Albany back in 2007.

Earlier in the meet, Gilbert won his first career title with a time of 52.80. Keefer was fifth in the 400 (48.43) and Smith was sixth in the 400 hurdles (54.64).

One day after bagging his first career title (in the 10,000), Martinez was second in the 5,000 (14:53.91). He is the first BU Athlete to be named the Rookie of the Meet since Arnett two seasons ago.

Junior Casey Quaglia was third in the 1,500 (3:49.14).

For the BU women, freshman Jessica Hennig was third in the 400.

Up next for Binghamton is the ECAC/IC4A Championships May 15-16 at Princeton.

NOTES: This weekend marks the fifth time in his career that Arnett has been received a major award at an America East meet. He was the Most Outstanding Rookie at both the 2008 indoor and outdoor meets and was also the Most Outstanding Performer at both the 2009 and 2010 indoor meets ... the 4x400 relay team also shattered the 2008 program record of 3:12.43. Arnett and Smith both were on that team ... Binghamton has been the runner up at the past three indoor conference meets but had finished only as high as third at the outdoor meet prior to this season
