Four BU student-athletes named to America East Track & Field All-Academic Team
VESTAL, N.Y.-- Seniors Marsha Fiesinger and Dan Walker, as well as junior Chris Gaube and Caitlin Wright have all been named to the America East Outdoor Track All-Academic Team for the 2009 season. They each earned the honor by virtue of their academic record as well as their performance at the recent America East Outdoor Track & Field Championships, which were held at Binghamton three weeks ago.
Fiesinger placed second in the heptathlon at the America East Conference Championships (4,202 points) while Wright was the runner up in the 400 hurdles with a NCAA Regional-qualifying time of 1:00.21.
On the men's side, Gaube took fourth in both the 5,000 and 10,000 with times of 14:58.12 and 31:56 respectively. Walker, meanwhile, was seventh in the 100 (11.17).
Earlier in the year, Gaube and Walker were also named to the America East Indoor Track & Field All-Academic Team.
America East All-Academic squads for team sports are based on the number of athletes that participate in a contest at one time or are made up of 10 student-athletes for individual sports like track & field. There may be more student-athletes recognized if a tie exists or fewer if eligibility requirements limit the number of nominees. To be nominated for the distinction, student-athletes must be a starter or important reserve for their team and participate in at least 50 percent of their teams games or competitions. In the classroom, student-athletes must have a 3.30 GPA and have completed at least one calendar year at their institution. Freshmen are not eligible for consideration.
