MEN'S TRACK & FIELD
Binghamton inks high school standout

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. — The Binghamton men’s track & field program has a national letter of intent from Jon Amoona (Woodmere, N.Y.), a sprinter from Hewlett High School. He will join the Bearcats for his freshman season next year.

Last season, Amoona was third place at the Class B state championships in the 100 meters and sixth in the 200 meters. He also won the Section 8 title in both events. Amoona’s personal-best performances are 10.7 in the 100 and 21.9 in the 200.

"Jon is a versatile and talented sprinter who will make an immediate impact in the short sprints,” said Binghamton head coach Mike Thompson. “He has run under 50 seconds on the 4x400 relay and could become a dominant force in the 400 in the future."
