Quiller sets two school records, meets NCAA provisional qualifying standard in the pole vault at Cornell Indoor Track Invitational

ITHACA, N.Y. - Sophomore Rory Quiller (West Point, N.Y.) continued his outstanding season by breaking two of his own school records, meeting the NCAA provisional qualifying standard in the pole vault and winning the men's heptathlon at the Cornell Invitational on Saturday. The men's team placed fifth out of six competing teams with 52 points while the women were fourth out of six teams with 72 points.

Quiller winning score of 5,051 points eclipsed his old record of 4,816 points, which was set at last season's America East Indoor Championships. Furthermore, in the pole vault portion of the heptathlon, Quiller vaulted 17-2 3/4 inches, breaking his previous best height of 16-8 3/4. More importantly, his height met the provisional for the NCAA Championships, which will be held March 11-12 in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

On the women's side, senior Heather Tassler (Hartsdale, N.Y.) finished second in the 60 and in the process, broke her own school record. Her time of 7.86 topped her time of 7.98, which she set last season.

NOTE: Quiller met the NCAA provisional standard by five centimeters.
