Bearcats compete in Cornell Outdoor Track & Field Invitational

ITHACA, N.Y.- Junior Dayna Johnson (Brentwood, N.Y.) won the women's triple jump and qualified for the NCAA Regional Championships, highlighting Binghamton's showing at the Cornell Outdoor Track & Field Invitational on Sunday afternoon. The Bearcats had four other individuals in the non-scoring meet.

Johnson's winning jump of 41-3 1/4 makes her eligible for the NCAA Outdoor Regional Championships for the second time in her career. In 2005, she got an automatic bid for winning the America East Conference title in the long jump. Binghamton's other winner on the women's side was junior Katie Wilmer (North Syracuse, N.Y.), who won the pole vault (10-11 3/4).

On the men's side, s
ophomore Jimmy Massar (Johnson City, N.Y.) won the 100 (10.87), senior Kevin Hall (Glen Falls, N.Y.) captured the shotput (50-7) and junior Kris Yelverton (Vestal, N.Y.) tied for first in the pole vault (15-1). Graduate student Adam Goldberg (New Rochelle, N.Y.) was fourth in the 110 hurdles but posted an IC4A-qualifying time of 14.80.

Binghamton heads to the America East Conference Championships next weekend at UMBC.
