Binghamton track & field sets three school records at season-opening Cornell Indoor Relays
ITHACA, N.Y.---Graduate student Adam Goldberg (New Rochelle, N.Y.), junior Keisha Short (Yaphank, N.Y.) and sophomore Kim Williams (Buffalo, N.Y.) all set school records, highlighting the Binghamton track & field teams' season-opening performance at the Cornell Relays on Saturday. There were no team scores kept during the meet.
Goldberg finished second in the men's 60 hurdles but clocked a school-record time of 8.2 seconds. The old mark of 8.31 seconds was held by current senior Rory Quiller (West Point, N.Y.). Williams was second in the women's 60 with a school-record time of 7.84. The old record was held by Heather Tassler (7.86). Short, meanwhile, broke her own school record in the women's 300 with a second-place time of 41.42. Her old mark was 42.21.
Binghamton's lone first-place finisher was junior Katie Wilmer (North Syracuse, N.Y.), who captured the women's pole vault with a height of 11-3 3/4. Carly Gross (Woodstock, N.Y.) was third in the same event (10-3). Also on the women's side, junior Dayna Johnson (Brentwood, N.Y.) was third in the long jump (17-10 1/4).
Junior Kris Yelverton (Edwell, N.Y.) was second in the men's pole vault (15-3).
Binghamton is off until the Army Black Knight Invitational on Jan. 13 at 11 a.m.
