Quiller
named Men's Most Outstanding Performer at Great Dane Indoor Track
Classic
NEW YORK CITY, N.Y.-- Graduate student Rory
Quiller (West Point, N.Y.) won the men's pole vault and
was named the Most Outstanding Performer, highlighting Binghamton's
effort at the Great Dane Indoor Track Classic on Friday at the
New York City Armory. There were no team scores kept during the
meet, which ended late in the evening.
Quiller's jump of 17-9 1/4 set the college facility record. While
the New York City Armory has hosted professional competitions,
no college athlete has ever cleared the same distance.
Sophomore Chris
Gaube (Vestal, N.Y.) and junior Adam
Hill (Delmar, N.Y.) took the top two slots in the men's
5,000, finishing with times of 15:05.52 and 15:06.12 respectively.
Freshman Cazal
Arnett (Jamaica, N.Y.) was third in the men's 400 with
a time of 48.77, which met the IC4A qualifying standard and was
the fastest time ever recorded bv a Binghamton freshman.
Freshman Ashley
Horton (Candor, N.Y.) captured the women's 5,000 (18:19.32)
while senior Dayna
Johnson (Brentwood, N.Y.) was first in the triple jump
with an ECAC-qualifying distance of 40-9.
Freshman Christian
Smith (Trumansburg, N.Y.) placed ninth in the men's 500,
but he did tie the school record with a time of 1:05.61. Junior
teammate Jimmy
Massar (Johnson City, N.Y.) ran the same time last season.
