Binghamton 4x400 relay team places third at ECAC/IC4A Outdoor Track Championships
PRINCETON, N.J.-- Freshman Casey Gilbert and Zach Keefer as well as juniors Christian Smith and Cazal Arnett placed third in the finals of the 4x400 relay at the ECAC/IC4A Outdoor Track & Field Championships, which were held this weekend at Princeton University. The Bearcat quartet clocked a school-record time of 3:08.04 in the process.
On Saturday in the trials, the 4x400 relay team set the previous school record with a time of 3:09.20. It was the fastest time recorded in the opening round. Including the America East Championships two weeks ago, Binghamton's 4x400 relay team has broken the school record three consecutive times.
The NCAA East Regional Championships will be held in two weeks in Greensboro, N.C. and the top 24 relay teams will advance to the meet. The Bearcat men have improved their top time by nearly two seconds this month, strengthening their position when the final rankings are released Monday evening.
