van Ingen meets NCAA provisional time in mile at New Balance Collegiate Invitational
NEW YORK, N.Y.-- Sophomore Erik van Ingen placed third in the mile and in the process, met the NCAA provisional qualifying standard, highlighting Binghamton's performance at the New Balance Collegiate Indoor Track Invitational on Saturday at the New York City Armory.
van Ingen's time of 4:02.39 was under the NCAA qualifying standard of 4:04.00. Furthermore, it shattered the school record of 4:16.47 set by teammate Casey Quaglia last year.
The NCAA Indoor Championships will be held March 13-14 at Texas A&M University. The top 16-24 performers in each event will qualify for the championships, provided they have met the provisional standard. The final list of entrees will be released following the weekend of March 7-8.
