Quiller named to COSIDA Academic All-America Second Team

VESTAL, N.Y.-- Senior Rory Quiller (West Point, N.Y.), who earned All-America honors at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships three weeks ago, has been named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (COSIDA) Academic All-America second team. It marks the first time in his career that Quiller has received this accolade.

By tying for fourth place in the pole vault at the NCAA Championship on June 8, Quiller became the first Binghamton Division I athlete to earn All-America honors twice in a career. Back in March, he finished second at the NCAA Indoor Championship with a jump of 18-0 1/2. All-America honors at the NCAA Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field Championships are awarded to the top eight individual finishers in each event.

Last weekend's performance capped off the best year that any Binghamton athlete has had at the NCAA Division I level. In addition to earning a pair of All-America honors, Quiller broke the NCAA East Region Outdoor record in the pole vault two weeks ago (18-1), was named the NCAA Northeast Region Field Athlete of the Year, the America East Conference Outdoor Track Most Outstanding Field Athlete and was named the Binghamton Athletic Department Male Athlete of the Year for the second time in three years.
