Binghamton pole vaulter Quiller places 12th at NCAA Indoor Championship

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Sophomore pole vaulter Rory Quiller (West Point, N.Y.) placed 12th in the pole vault at the NCAA Division I Indoor Track & Field Championship, hosted by University of Arkansas Friday and Saturday at the Randal Tyson Track Center. Quiller, who qualified with a BU record of 17-feet 6 1/2 inches, successfully cleared 17-feet-4 1/2 in Friday night's competition. He was seeded 16th of the 17 competitors entering the event.

"Rory did very well for his first national meet," head coach Mike Thompson said. "He had one very good attempt at 17-8 3/4, which would've been his personal best and would've made him a All-American. I thought he showed great composure and maturity at such a world-class meet."

Top-seeded Tommy Skipper of Oregon won the event with a mark of 18-4 1/2.

Quiller was the only male athlete from the America East Conference to compete at the national meet.
