track & field records pair of wins at Syracuse Invitational

SYRACUSE, N.Y.-- On the same day that sophomore Erik
van Ingen met the NCAA provisional qualifying standard in
the mile at the New Balance Collegiate Indoor Track Invitational,
the Binghamton track & field teams also took part in the
Syracuse Indoor Invitational.
On the men's side, sophomore Chris
Kowalski captured the heptathlon with a score of 4,609 points.
The women's top performance was turned in by the 4x400 relay
team, which finished first with a time of 3:58.86. The Bearcats
quartet in that event consisted of juniors Maureen
Hinson and Caitlin
Wright along with freshman Kaitlin
Also on the women's side, sophomore
Defino was second in the pentathlon (3,030 pts.) and senior
Mealing was the runner up in the triple jump (36-3).
Hidalgo was second in the men's weight throw (52-1 1/4).
Binghamton hosts a tri-meet against Syracuse and Albany at the
Events Center on Friday at 4 p.m.
NOTE: No team scores were kept during the meet.
