Binghamton track & field hosts dual meet against Syracuse

VESTAL, N.Y.-- Juniors Chris Veney and Abigail Oakes each won a pair of events, highlighting the Binghamton track & field team's dual meet against Syracuse on Friday night at the Events Center. There was no team scoring kept during the meet.

In the men's meet, Veney took top honors in the long jump (22-10.00) and the triple jump (43-07.75). Oakes, meanwhile, won the women's shot put (35-05.75) and the weight throw (49-10.50). Her distance in the weight throw broke the school record of 49-4.50 set by Marisa Yelverton back in 2002.

The Bearcats posted eight individual wins in the men's meet and seven in the women's competition.

Binghamton heads to the America East Indoor Championships next weekend in Boston.
