|Tassler sets school record as track & field teams compete at the Syracuse Invitational|
WEST POINT, N.Y.--Junior Heather Tassler (Hartsdale, N.Y./ Woodlands) set a school record and three other Bearcats won individual events as the Binghamton track & field teams competed at the Syracuse Invitational this past weekend.
Tassler placed fifth in the 60, clocking a school-record time of 7.98. She also placed fourth in the 200 with a time of 25.94. Other top finishers on the women's side included sophomore Kathryn Murnane (Rockville Center, N.Y./ Oceanside), who finished second in the 3,000 (10:19.52) and sophomore Jaime Stitt (Ballston Lake, N.Y./Shenendehowa), who was second in the pole vault (10-11.75).
On the men's side, freshman Rory Quiller (West Point, N.Y./ James I. Oneill) captured the pole vault with a height of 15-11. In the high jump, sophomore Luke Shafer (Penfield, N.Y./ McQuaid) finished first with a leap of 6-4 and in the weight throw, senior Andrew Cloud (Massapequa, N.Y./ Massapequa) took top honors with a distance of 54-2.
Other top finishers on the men's side included sophomore Adam Goldberg (New Rochelle, N.Y./ New Rochelle), who was third in the high jump (6-4) and junior Mike Ksionzyk (Olean, N.Y./ Olean) who was third in the pole vault (15-11) and fourth in the heptathlon. In the weight throw, senior Gabe Fletcher (Binghamton, N.Y./ Windsor) was third (51-4.25), sophomore Paddy Hennessy (Selkirk, N.Y./ Bethlehem) was fourth (51-2.25) and junior Todd Wassinger (Sanborn, N.Y./ Starpoint) was fifth (50-2).
Binghamton will take part in the Cornell Denault Invitational this coming weekend.
