men second, women third at West Point Indoor Track Quad Meet

WEST POINT, N.Y.-- Senior Joanel
Lopez captured both the shot put and weight throw events,
highlighting the Binghamton track & field teams' performances
at the West Point Quad Meet on Saturday. The Bearcats were second
of three teams in the men's meet and third in the women's competition.
Lopez, who now has three individual victories in two meets this
season, won the men's shot put with a distance of 51-8 1/4. In
the weight throw, his winning toss was 56-1.
Sophomore Cazal
Arnett, the 2008 America East Men's Rookie of the Year
during both the indoor and outdoor seasons, won the 500 (1:07.00)
on Saturday. Freshman Eric
VanAerman took top honors in the pole vault (14-11),
freshman Nelson Hall was triumphant in the high jump (6-6), junior
Chris
Gaube won the 3,000 (8:39.85) and freshman Michael
Schieck was first in the mile (4:22.58)
On the women's side, junior Caitlyn
Wright was second in the 800 (2:19.22) while sophomore
Ashley
Horton was the runner up in the 3,000 (10:42.67). Senor
Carly
Gross was second in the pole vault (10-6).
The Bearcats are back in action at the Great Dane Classic on
Friday at 12:30 p.m. The meet will be held at the New York City
Armory.
