For Immediate Release: February 7, 2006 Contact: David O'Brian (dobrian@binghamton.edu) Phone: 607-777-6478 Wilmer named America East Conference Women's Field Athlete of the Week VESTAL, N.Y. - Sophomore Katie Wilmer (North Syracuse, N.Y.) has been named the America East Conference women's Field Athlete of the Week. She earned the honor by virtue of her performance at the Syracuse Invitational this past weekend. Wilmer won the women's pole vault and qualified for the ECAC Championships in the process with a height of 11-9 3/4. "Katie really broke through at Syracuse," head coach Mike Thompson said. "She did a great job of focusing on a couple key technical things and had one close jump at 12-2. I think she took a big step towards becoming one of the top vaulters in the Northeast."
