Cross country teams ink five high school runners

VESTAL, N.Y.-- The Binghamton cross country program has announced the signing of five high school seniors, all of whom signed a National Letter of Intent. Four of the signees will join the men's program while the other runner will be on the women's squad this coming fall.

Casey Quaglia (Bangor, Maine), who is from Bangor High School, is the current Maine Class A individual state cross country champion. He is also a six-time individual state champion the past two track seasons. His top times are 1:58 in the 800 and 4:24 in the mile.

Adam Quinn (Clifton Park, N.Y.) hails from Shenendehowa High School. Last fall, he placed 16th in the New York Class AA State Meet and 30th at the Federation Meet. His top track times are 4:26 for the mile and 8:55 for the 3,000.

Jesse Thompson (Bay Shore, N.Y.) is currently a senior at Bay Shore High School. His top track times are 1:55 in the 800 and 4:24 in the mile.

Adam Zinder (Ithaca, N.Y.) is in his senior year at Ithaca High School. His top track times are 1:57 in the 800 and 4:24 in the mile.

“I honestly couldn’t be more excited about our men's freshman recruiting class," head coach Annette Acuff said." Adam Quinn and Casey Quaglia should have an immediate impact with our cross country program next year with both of them having the potential to be significant scorers for us. Jesse Thompson and Adam Zinder will also add strength and depth for cross country, but we look to see them especially upgrade our middle distance program in track. All four are a perfect fit for our program, and I’m looking forward to working with all of them.”

On the women's side, the Bearcats signed Shannon Finnegan (Niskayuna, N.Y.) who is currently at Colonie High School. She was an all-state selection in cross country last fall and her top track time in the 1,500 is 4:45.

“Shannon wants to be challenged and has a great competitive spirit," Acuff said. " I look forward to seeing her contribute significantly to both our cross country and track programs.”

Earlier in the year, Binghamton signed Kelly Billingiere (Harpursville, N.Y.) and Ashley Horton (Candor, N.Y.).
