Radzik places fourth in women's race at America East Cross Country Championship

ORONO, Maine-- Sophomore Katie Radzik (Mt. Sinai, N.Y.) placed fourth overall in the women's race, highlighting the Binghamton cross country squads' performance at America East Cross Country Championships in Saturday at Maine. The Bearcat women's team was fifth out of nine competing school while the men were eighth. Boston repeated as the women's championships while New Hampshire was victorious on the men's side.
Radzik covered the women's 5,000-meter course in a time of 17:27. In the process, she became just the second Binghamton runner to earn all-conference accolades (given to the top 10 runners) two staight years. Last season, she placed third in the meet, which was held at Binghamton. Freshman Kelda Nelson (Hillsborough, N.J.) was 20th (18:15) while sophomore Jaime Schulte (Tucson, Ariz) was 29th (18:38). There were 78 runner in the women's race.
On the men's side, freshman Chris Gaube (Vestal, N.Y.), a 2006 graduate of nearby Vestal High School, was once again Binghamton's top finisher. He finished 28th overall, covering the 8,000-meter course in a time of 25:53. Fellow freshman Craig Coon (Penfield, N.Y.) was 38th (26:20.30) while senior Jeff Herbert (Somerville, N.J.) was 39th (26:20.60). There were also 78 finishers in the men's race.
Up next for Binghamton is the NCAA Northeast Regional on Nov. 11 at Van Cortlandt Park in New York City.
