Cross country teams run at America East Championships

Stony Brook N.Y. - The Binghamton Cross Country teams competed at the America East Cross Country Championships on Saturday at Stony Brook. The women placed 5th out of 9 while the men were 6th of 9.

Freshman Ashley Horton (Candor, N.Y.) placed 16th out of 77 runners in the women's race. She finished the 5,008-meter course in a time of 18:43. Horton was followed by junior Katie Radzik (Mt. Sinai, N.Y.) in 29th place (19:28).

Rounding out the top-five for the women were freshman Sarah Veith (Derby, N.Y.) in 31st (19:37), junior Jennifer Hastings (Vestal, N.Y.) in 32nd (19:39) and freshman Alicia Finger (Cicero, N.Y.) in 33rd place with a time of 19:40.

Freshman Andrew Ugolino (West Hurley, N.Y.) led the men with a 22nd place finish in the 73-runner field. He completed the 8,124-meter course with a time of 27:00.

Freshman Casey Quaglia (Bangor, Maine) placed 25th (27:16) and sophomore Craig Coon (Penfield, N.Y.) came in 26th place (27:18) as the other Bearcat top finishers.

Host Stony Brook claimed the women's title and New Hampshire won the men's race to be named America East Champions.

Binghamton will next run at the NCAA Northeast Regional @ Franklin Park in Boston on November 11.
