cross country opens season at Cornell Tri-Meet
and Jelinek pace Bearcats in first meet of 11th Division I campaign
ITHACA, N.Y.--Freshman Colin
Frost placed ninth in the men's race and sophomore Caitlin
Jelinek was 11th in the women's event, highlighting the Binghamton
cross country teams' performances at the Cornell Tri-Meet on
Friday afternoon at the Maukley Course. The Bearcat men finished
third (77 points) behind Cornell (20) and Army (39) while the
women were also third (77) following the host Big Red (15) and
In his first collegiate race, Frost covered the 8,000-meter course
in a time of 27:01. Junior Jason

Fernandez was 19th (27:28), freshman Jesse
Garn was 21st (27:41) and freshman Cal
Michaels was 23rd. Max Groves of Cornell was first out of
the 48 runners with a time of 26:23.
Jelinek, meanwhile, completed the 5,000-meter race in a time
of 19:16. Graduate student Ashley
Horton was 23rd (19:53). Katie Kellner of Cornell was first
out of 52 runners with a time of 17:56.
