Cross country teams conclude season with ECAC/IC4A meet
Women place 3rd of 15; men are 9th
BRONX, N.Y.--The Binghamton men's and women's cross country teams wrapped up the fall season at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx on Saturday afternoon, competing in the ECAC/IC4A Championship. The women finished third among 15 teams in the University race, while the men placed ninth.
The women had a marked improvement from last year, when they finished 14th among 18 teams. New Hampshire captured both the men's and women's events.
Individually for the women, junior Lindsey Bohrer-Yardley (Oneida, N.Y.) crossed sixth in the field of 112 with a time of 19:03 in the 5K race. She improved her time in the same race from last year by 32 seconds, when she finished 24th. Freshman Erica Angell (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) finished 20th (19:27) and classmate Kathryn Murnane (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) was 23rd (19:30).
On the men's side, freshman Dominic Catalano (Spring Grove, Pa.) ran the 5-mile course in 27:53 to place 51st. Junior Sergey Shteyn (Staten Island, N.Y.) followed in 53rd (27:59) and freshman Mike Wlodarski (Syracuse, N.Y.) was 57th (28:04).
