Fred Joslyn hired as assistant cross country and track & field coach

VESTAL, N.Y. - The Binghamton University Athletic Department has announced the hiring of Fred Joslyn as a part-time assistant cross country and track & field coach. He earned his bachelor's degree (in physical education) at nearby SUNY Cortland in 2006 and is currently working on his master's degree there as well.

At Cortland, Joslyn was a five-time NCAA Division III All-American (four times in track & field and once in cross country). His crowning accomplishment came this past March, when he won the NCAA Division III Indoor title in the 5,000 with a time of 14:31. Last fall, he competed in the Chicago Marathon and finished with a time of 2:29:13.

"We are excited to have Fred join our program," head cross country coach Annette Acuff said. "With his background, he is going to be a huge asset here at Binghamton."

Joslyn is a 2002 graduate of nearby Chenango Forks High School.

Binghamton opens up its 2007 cross country season at the Seawolf Invitational on August 31 at Stony Brook, N.Y.
