Women place sixth, men finish eighth at Lafayette Cross Country Invitational

EASTON, Pa.-- Sophomore Katie Radzik (Mt. Sinai, N.Y.) placed fourth overall in the women's race, highlighting the Binghamton cross country squads' performance at the Lafayette Cross Country Invitational on Saturday afternoon. The Bearcat women finished sixth out of 13 teams while the men were eighth out of 14 teams.

Radzik covered the women's 6,000-meter course in a time of 20:37. Freshman Kelda Nelson (Hillsborough, N.J.) was 16th (21:30), senior Mary Tursi (Staten Island, N.Y.) placed 46th (22:34), freshman Stacy Meitzler (Athens, Pa.) finished 53rd (22:44) and sophomore Jaime Schulte (Tucson, Ariz) was 70th (23:10). There were 134 runners in the women's race.

On the men's side, freshman Chris Gaube (Vestal, N.Y.), a 2006 graduate of nearby Vestal High School, was once again Binghamton's top finisher. He finished 28th overall, covering the 8,000-meter course in a time of 26:40.

Fellow freshman Craig Coon (Penfield, N.Y.) placed 41st (27:08), senior Ben Hebdon (Groton, N.Y.) was 52nd (27:22), senior Jeff Herbert (Somerville, N.J.) was 54th (27:23) and freshman John Carroll (Ithaca, N.Y.) was 57th (27:27). There were 130 runners in the men's race.

Binghamton heads to the Amercia East Conference championship on Oct. 28 at Maine.
