Cross country squads compete in Lehigh Paul Short Run

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Sophomore Erik van Ingen and senior Jamie Shulte highlighted the Binghamton Cross Country teams' performance at the Lehigh Paul Short Run on friday afternoon. The men placed 20th out of 45 teams while the women were 31st out of 43 teams.

Van Ingen finished 42nd out of 298 runners in the men's race, completing the 8,000-meter course in a time of 24:37. He was followed by junior Chris Gaube who finished 92nd (25:04), sophomore Andrew Ugolino (25:13) who placed 108th, and sophomore Adam Quinn who finished 122nd, (25:23).

On the women's side, Schulte finished 106th in the 301-runner field, completing the 6,000-meter course in a time of 22:16. Following Schulte was sophomore Ashley Horton who placed 135th in a time of 22:36.

The men have been steadily improving, as they finished 24th last year at Lehigh, and 35th the year before.

Wisconsin won the men's race while West Virginia captured the women's title.

Binghamton will return to action on Oct. 17th at Penn State National Open.
