Binghamton Women's Cross Country inks high school senior from New Jersey

VESTAL, N.Y.-- The Binghamton University Cross Country team has announced the signing of Kelda Nelson (Hillsborough, N.J.), a senior at Hillsborough High School. She will compete for the Bearcats in both cross country and track starting next fall.

Nelson placed fourth at the Skyline Conference Championships last fall with a 5K time of 18:45. The Skyline Conference is one of the most competitive conferences in New Jersey. In addition, she clocked a 5K time of 19:42 at the Shore Coaches' Meet, which was run on the toughest course in the state. Nelson has also competed in track and has run 11:22 in the 3,200.

"I'm excited to have Kelda coming because she will have an immediate impact on our women's team," head coach Annette Acuff said. "She is a lot like Craig Coon (who Binghamton signed earlier in the month) is that she will be even stronger in the longer college distances.
