|Cross Country teams compete at NCAA Division I Northeast Regional|
The men's and women's cross country teams competed at the NCAA Division I Northeast Regional Championship at Van Cortland Park in New York City on Saturday. The men's team placed 26th out of 33 competing teams with 753 points while the women were 23rd out of 36 teams with 702 points.
Sophomore Peter Chambers (Newark, N.Y.) was Binghamton's top finisher on the men's side, placing 114th in a time of 33:47 for the 10,000 meter course. Senior Bobby Heytota (Bayport, N.Y./ Bayport-Blueprint) was the next Bearcat runner across the line, placing 126th in a time of 34:09.
Finishing up the scoring for the Bearcats were freshman Prahlad Genung (Afton, N.Y.) who was 148th (34:39), senior Steve Reese (Vestal, N.Y.), who was 160th (27:02) and senior Matt Cullen (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.), who was 205th (37:14).
On the womens side, junior Lisa Kemmerer (Bethlehem, Pa./ Freedom) was Binghamton's top finisher, placing 108th in a time of 23: 37 for the 5,000 meter course. Sophomore Lindsey Bohrer-Yardley (Oneida, N.Y./ Vernon-Verona-Sherill), was next across the line for Binghamton, finishing 115th (23:47).
Finishing up the scoring for Binghamton were freshman Jessica Goldshlager (Long Beach, N.Y.), who was 160th (24:29), freshman Allison Furey (Smyrna, N.Y./ Sherburne-Earlville), who was 162nd (24:31), and freshman Joy Romulus (Washingtonville, N.Y.), who was 169th (24:36).
