SYRACUSE, N.Y.--Senior Kellen Wadach (Ithaca, N.Y.) and sophomore Lindsay Bohrer-Yardley (Oneida, N.Y./ Vernon-Verona-Sherrill) each placed third in their respective races, as the Binghamton cross country teams competed at the Syracuse Invitational on Saturday. Both teams finished second among three competing Division I schools (there were also four Division II schools in the race).

Wadach placed third out of 66 runners in the 8K run in a time of 26:33. Also placing in the top 10 overall was sophomore Peter Chambers (Newark, N.Y.), who was seventh with a time of 27:14. The men lost to host Syracuse 19-40 but defeated Niagara 15-45.

“Kellen and Peter are running very consistent right now,” said head coach Annette Acuff. “Kellen is off to a great start this season and Peter had a real breakthrough race today.”

Sophomore Sergey Shteyn (Staten Island, N.Y./ Tottenville) finished 14th (27:42), freshman Prahlad Genung (Afton, N.Y.) was 16th (27:44) and senior Steve Reese (Vestal, N.Y.) was 21st (28:24).

Bohrer-Yardley finished third in the 5K race with a time of 18:21. Freshman Stacy Kramer (Loudonville, N.Y./ Colonie Central) placed sixth with a time of 18:34. The Bearcats just missed beating Syracuse 27-28 but handled Niagara 15-48.

“We were really able to pack our runners within range of Lindsay and that made a big difference,” Acuff said. “Lindsay is running great right now but the depth we got behind her was great.”

Junior Lisa Kemmerer (Bethlehem, Pa./ Freedom) was 12th (19:24), freshman Joy Romulus (Washingtonville, N.Y.) was 16th (19:30) and freshman Jessica Goldshlager (Long Beach, N.Y.) was 19th (19:35).
