The
Binghamton baseball and softball teams held their annual preseason
media day today. The baseball team will open their season at
Dallas Baptist on February 20 and are looking to defend their
back-to-back regular season titles. The softball team will open
on February 27 at the St. Mary's Classic in California.
Baseball Head Coach Tim Sinicki
On winning back-to-back regular season titles and playing
in two straight AE championship games
"I think its a real testament to the kids we have in
our program. They work hard and they push each other. They have
not settled to the point where when we got their two years ago
they were happy. They worked hard to get back there last year
and that has been the case again this year so far in spring practice.
I think we'll be in a position to get back there in May this
year."
Softball Head Coach Ali Brian
On the softball team's strengths this season
"The biggest strength that we have this year is that we
only graduated two players from last year's team and everyone
else is back so we have some veteran experience. We are very
strong up the middle and our pitching staff is very deep. All
of our pitchers are back from last year. The team gets along
very well and is very cohesive."
Senior right-handed pitcher Greg Lane
"We're a really talented squad this year and what makes
us really dangerous as a team is that we have the experience
of playing in the postseason and in conference championship games.
We also know what it takes to get to the championship game and
we're real excited to get things going this season."
Sophomore catcher Deannie Plemon
"I definitely think we should improve from last year. We
have a better lineup and more power in our lineup. We also have
to new freshman pitchers that are going to help and all of our
returning pitchers are healthy this year." think we should
improve from last year. We have a better lineup and more power
